Living Strings was created in 1959 as a way to present current Pop songs to an older generation.  Very similar to 101 Strings, Living Strings records were sold on RCA’s Camden budget label.  There never was a true “Living Strings Orchestra”.  When an album was due to be recorded, a group of studio musicians was assembled to record the songs.  British composer and arranger Johnny Douglas arranged and conducted most of the sessions throughout the existence of Living Strings.  There were also Living Voices, Living Guitars, Living Trio, Living Jazz, Living Marimbas, Living Brass, Living Percussion and Living Organ.  Only Living Strings, Living Voices, Living Guitars and Living Trio produced Christmas albums.  Living Strings and Living Voices were primarily in existence throughout the 1960s and 1970s.  The few records released in the 1980s and 1990s were primarily re-issues of previous releases.  (Living Strings – Wikipedia)
