Just as with Kohl’s®, Pier 1 imports® got into the Christmas music game, but Pier 1 imports® started before Kohl’s®.  Kohl’s® first Christmas music release was in 2000, and as far as I can tell, Pier 1 imports®’ first Christmas music release was in 1996.  (There is a Christmas cassette titled “Discover… The Spirit Of Christmas” from 1990, but I can’t seem to find it for sale on any of the online market sources I checked.)

If the Pier 1 imports® CD releases benefit any charity, as many of these department store releases do, it’s not apparent from the liner notes on any of the CDs.

Kohl’s Cares for Kids® benefits local Children’s hospitals and Dillards® CD releases benefit the local Ronald McDonald House®.

I don’t think I want to collect the Dillards® releases.  After looking them over, there’s really not anything I don’t already have in my collection.  Kohl’s® CDs were unique in the beginning, but as I continued to collect Christmas music, there became more and more duplicates of songs I already had.

Many of the Pier 1 imports® CDs contain newer Christmas music that I don’t already have in my collection.  Some of the earliest releases contain very eclectic Christmas music.  Many contain Christmas songs by artists that I may never get around to collecting.  But most contain traditional Christmas songs that already exist in my collection.  But if I’m going to get half of the series, I’d just assume have them all.
